Shelter

The importance of shelter sector projects:
- The successive campaigns of displacement of Syrians to the northwestern regions of Syria led to a very large increase in the population in the northern regions, which were originally areas that were not equipped to accommodate this large number of residents, which generated the need to quickly secure housing for these families.
The immediate response was initially limited to providing tents as a quick solution to shelter families, and soon the tents themselves became a problem that must be disposed of, especially with no apparent definite solution,  and in light of the suffering experienced by the camp residents from cold, heat, and natural factors such as torrents and rain, which claimed the lives of many residents therein.
Wifaq Humanitarian’s orientation in the Shelter Sector:
- Wifaq Association has increased its activity in the shelter sector since 2018 and focused its efforts on finding solutions by securing decent, suitable housing for families that provides them with the necessary space and privacy and protects them from harsh weather factors.
- The projects varied in several areas, as it equipped temporary shelters for the displaced and built houses to increase the number of homes built through these projects to more than 600 homes, primarily benefiting the elderly, people with special needs, and families of widows and orphans living in the camps.
